“Easing the Transition from Efficient to a Living Grave,” a group exhibition curated by Derek Courtney, calls attention to what people do to cope with living in our modern world: the way we distract, entertain, and even numb ourselves to everything that happens around us. Often times these coping mechanisms have detrimental effects on our physical and emotional well-being. 

While building the roster for the show, Derek gave artists very general instructions on approaches to take with their work without mentioning any overall theme. In some cases, just giving general size and vague thematic guidelines. This was an opportunity to send them in different or new directions - ones that Derek has been wanting to see out of them.
